AIR SAFETY: Dana Airline has been grounded by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on the ground of safety reasons following recent investigations by the government agency.
This was disclosed by NCAA on Wednesday through an official statement by the Director General of the agency.
NCAA said in the statement that the Air Transport Licence (ATL) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of airline has been suspended indefinitely.
The statement, which was signed by Musa Nuhu, the NCAA Director General disclosed that the suspension was necessitated by some discoveries by the agency bothering on financial health of the air carrier.
NCAA said that after “discovering that the airline is no longer in a position to meet its financial obligations and to conduct safe flight operations” it became necessary to suspend its operations.
This almost immediate suspension took effect from midnight on Wednesday, 20th of July, 2022.

Speaking further NCAA said, “The decision is the outcome of a financial and economic health audit carried out on the airline by the authority, and the findings of an investigation conducted on the airline’s flight operations recently, which revealed that Dana Airlines is no longer in a position to meet its financial obligations and to conduct safe flight operations.
“The NCAA acknowledges the negative effect this preemptive decision will have on the Airline’s passengers and the travelling public and seeks their understanding, as the safety of flight operations takes priority over all other considerations.”
