During a meeting with Data Protection Officers (DPOs) in Abuja, the Minister emphasized that data privacy is not just a matter of convenience but a fundamental human right.

The Minister’s Advisory

Dr. Tijani stressed the importance of responsible data management, stating, “As we mainstream the use of technology, not everyone in our society knows how to manage their data… We will continue to push and enlighten our citizens to protect their data.” He also called on DPOs to join in this effort to protect citizens’ data.

Dr. Tijani emphasized that safeguarding data is not solely the government’s responsibility; everyone has a role to play in educating those around them about the value of their data and how to protect it.
