2023 ELECTION: Following the just concluded Osun State elections held on Saturday July 16th, 2022, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has assured citizens of the Nation of improved security for the upcoming elections.
The IGP disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, while also noting that the force is constantly and tirelessly improving on its election security mandate in preparation for the 2023 General Elections.
Usman, while appraising security operatives officers from diverse divisions also appreciated the electorates in Osun State for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
He recognised the critical stakeholders for their role in collectively maintaining decorum and working pari passu with law enforcement agencies.
He also highlighted the collaborative efforts with security agencies, which assisted in the peaceful conduct of the elections in Osun State.
In a bid to sustain unison, he called on well-meaning Nigerians, electorates and political actors to perform their due diligence as support to the police and other security agencies in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.
For the general security and safety of the nation, the IGP encouraged Nigerians to toe the line of peaceful conduct in subsequent elections most especially the forthcoming nationwide polls.
The IGP also commended the security agencies and their operatives for the respective roles towards the success of the Osun gubernatorial elections, while also assuring the nation of security improvements nationwide.
