The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has refuted media reports (Clariform not included) that it will boycott talks with the federal government about the ongoing strike action in the country.
This was made known when Dr. Gbolahan Bolarin, the chairperson of ASUU at the Federal University of Technology Minna and a member of the National Executive Council had a chat with our reporter.
Clariform reports that several sources have been cited in media reports that ASUU contemplated boycotting future negotiations with the government during its Sunday NEC meeting.
Speaking with a Clariform reporter in Port Harcourt, Mr. Gbolahan said “We never said that, who are we going to negotiate with if not them?”
“Nigerians should stop peddling falsehood and fake news in the name of being the first to break the news or to divide people of goodwill that meant well for our nation.”
Recall that we earlier reported that ASUU declared an indefinite strike on Monday, August 29, 2022, following failure of the federal government to reach agreement with the striking lecturers over the already six-month strike action.
