Basic Facts

  • Chris Finebone visited Gov. Wike yesterday evening at his Ada George, Rumuepirikom private resident.
  • Until now Chris Finebone was the APC spokesman in Rivers State and close associate of Rotimi Amaechi.
  • Chris Finebone has been a vocal critic of Wike’s government.

What We Know

Barely two days after coming down hard on Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, the spokesman of APC  and close associate of former Governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of transportation, Mr. Chris Finebone is said to have completed arrangement to announce his defection to the PDP he once vilified.

Mr. Finebone visited Governor Wike yesterday evening at his Ada George Road private resident. This unusual visit took many by surprise. However, many APC members in Rivers State have recently decamped and continues to leave the party in droves.

Nevertheless, Mr. Finebone was the least expected to dump the party for the PDP he has held in disdain. Mr. Finebone is yet to make an official statement on this, however, popular radio stations have announced it.

The picture of the Finebone, the PDP Governorship candidate and governor himself adorned social media handles of government media persons.

Catch-up

The APC in Rivers State has been in crisis ridden from the word go. The party keeps moving from one unresolved problem to the other. After missing the 2019 elections in the state.

The party has gone on to have congress that was less than satisfactory to her members. The party in the state, also witnessed the defection of Sen. Magnus Abe to the SDP. Before now, SMA (Sen. Magnus Abe) as he is fondly called , he was the albatross of the Rivers APC state leader, the former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Takeaway

Definitely, it’s not yet uhuru for Rivers APC, even with the exit of SMA to SDP. If this latest defection is confirmed (Clariform will follow this development), then the party can as well forget 2023 in the state.

Just on Wednesday, a former chieftain of the party Dawari George emerged the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA). Many left unannounced, what then is a party without her members?

What We Are Following

Can the wave of defection be stoped? What would be Mr. Finebone’s reason for leaving a party he fought so hard to win it’s congress? What would be his reason for joining Nyesom Wike just two days after coming hard on him?

These answers Clariform News desk will seek to unveil to her esteemed readers. However, for now, we can’t but accuse the character less colour of politics in Nigeria and the dearth of principles and ideology as the reason for this volt face
