WOMENS FOOTBALL: The Falconets, Nigeria’s women football junior team has ended their run in the current women`s world cup with heartbreaking goals conceded against the Dutch team.

The Nigerian U-20 Female team, Falconets missed the opportunity to redeem Nigeria image in sport as they crashed out of FIFA U-20 world cup Costa Rica 2022.
The Falconets though the better side of the night failed to beat Netherlands but conceded 2 goals without scoring any to end a weekend that saw two Nigerians beaten in boxing.

WHAT WE KNOW
Nigeria’s Falconet have crashed out of the U-20 Women’s World Cup, Costa Rica 2022. The Nigerian girls lost 2-0 to The Netherlands to end a miserable weekend for Nigerian sports community.
Though the Nigerian girls dominated the game, they seemed to have lost what it takes to score the needed goals, rather it was either hitting the crossbar or sending the ball outside the field.
The 2nd half was no different from the first, the Nigerians kept the ball in the half of the Netherlands, without converting their chances, even when such chances came begging.
Even the ray of hope that came at stoppage time in a penalty was overturned after a VAR review.
The Netherlands, despite not been the better side will now face Spain in the semi-final, having outscored the Nigerian side.
FLASHBACK
The Nigerian U-20 Females started the competition looking good to go all the way.
In the group C games, the Nigerian girls defeated France and South Korea 1-0 respectively, ending the group with a 3-1 victory over Canada. However, all that couldn’t take the Falconets beyond the quarterfinals.
In a similar sad experience for the Nigerian sporting community, Anthony Joshua failed to reclaim his heavyweight belts after a second defeat in the hands of Ukraine`s Alexander Usyk in a title rematch fight which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
TAKEAWAY
The Nigerian U-20 Female team will have to wait for the next two years before attempting to win the world trophy again.
