Though the Nigerian girls dominated the game, they seemed to have lost what it takes to score the needed goals, rather it was either hitting the crossbar or sending the ball outside the field.

The 2nd half was no different from the first, the Nigerians kept the ball in the half of the Netherlands, without converting their chances, even when such chances came begging.

Even the ray of hope that came at stoppage time in a penalty was overturned after a VAR review.

The Netherlands, despite not been the better side will now face Spain in the semi-final, having outscored the Nigerian side.

FLASHBACK

The Nigerian U-20 Females started the competition looking good to go all the way.

In the group C games, the Nigerian girls defeated France and South Korea 1-0 respectively, ending the group with a 3-1 victory over Canada. However, all that couldn’t take the Falconets beyond the quarterfinals.

In a similar sad experience for the Nigerian sporting community, Anthony Joshua failed to reclaim his heavyweight belts after a second defeat in the hands of Ukraine`s Alexander Usyk in a title rematch fight which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

TAKEAWAY

The Nigerian U-20 Female team will have to wait for the next two years before attempting to win the world trophy again.

In the meantime, Clariform Newsdesk can only hope those in charge prepares a better team next time.

However, present crop of players have displayed a lot of promises that the NFF must not allow to waste.
