The Federal House of Representatives has summoned Adolphus Aghughu the Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF) to appear before it on 30 August so as to provide explanation on fuel subsidy payments between 2013 and 2022.
House of reps want the auditor-general to provide documented evidence of the audit carried out on the monies spent on fuel subsidy by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd.
The notice was issued on Thursday by Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu, Chairman, Special ad hoc Committee investigating the fuel subsidy.
Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu made this known while scrutinizing documents submitted by the representative of the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGoF), Okolieaboh Sylvia.
Director, Federation Accounts, Saleh represented the AGoF.
The reps also instructed the office of the AGoF to provide relevant financial transaction receipts on the fuel subsidy for the period under review.
The committee has stated that it is committed to fair hearing hence the AGoF is expected to appear before it on 8 September with relevant documents.
The AGoF has also been tasked on the need to have an independent monitoring mechanism in place for seamless verification of the veracity of the transactions.
Mark Gbillah, a member of the committee said he spotted some discrepancies in the amount computed in the NNPC documents.
