The Governing Council of the Gombe State University (GSU) has issued a directive to all academic staff of the university to resume work with immediately.
The directive was issued in an internal memo dated September 2 and signed by the Registrar of the university, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto.
Dr. Abubakar Aliyu said the management made this decision after its second emergency meeting, which held yesterday.
The registrar stated that attendance registers had been provided at the respective head of departments (HODs) offices for lecturers who are ready to get back to work.
He also declared that the university management would adopt the ‘No-Work, No-Pay’ policy which will take effect as from September 9.

The internal memo the Registrar said, “Accordingly, the university management wishes to bring this information to the attention of all academic staff that the governing council at its second emergency meeting held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, deliberated on the protracted industrial action embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as it affects Gombe State University.”
According to the memo, “After exhaustive deliberations, the council resolved and directed that all academic staff should resume work immediately. Attendance registers have been provided at the HODs offices for those willing and ready to resume.”
Clariform recalled that despite the on-going ASUU strike, the University resumed academic activities for 100 level students on August 22. Also, September 3rd has been slated for matriculation of new intakes.
