“They destroyed the iron burglary protector and front door, entered inside the flat but were taken by surprise as the police inspector who professionally placed himself at a vantage position, engaged the bandits in an aggressive gun duel.

“The hoodlums who were stunned and confused by the staccato sound emanating from the officer’s rifle, took to their heels and were given a hot chase. In the process, one of them was neutralized.”

Catch-up

Clariform recalls that there is general insecurity in the country, which has been on the increase across the country. The South East in particular, has battled with the case of unknown gunmen who became a terror to residents of the South East, especially Imo State.

The unknown gunmen had largely made security personnel and government agencies their targets. Nonetheless, there has been no confirmation if these particular bandits were robbers or part of the dreaded unknown gunmen operating in the state.

Takeaway

Clariform notes that this development is the exception in what has been rampant about bandit attacks in Imo State and across the country, where the criminals have most had a field day killing and abducting victims.

There has been uptick in violence, killings and kidnapping in Imo State. While stealing and kidnapping for ransom are mostly target against civilians, the police and other security personnel are mostly targeted for killing.
