The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun recruitment of ad hoc staff for the 2023 general elections through a designated online portal for the purpose.
In a statement released Wednesday evening on its official Facebook page, the electoral umpire urged interested and eligible persons to visit its designated portal.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced that it’s recruitment portal for Ad hoc staff for 2023 elections will soon be opened, which allow interested person to apply for available jobs.
The information was made known to the public through INEC`s statement on it’s official Facebook page on Wednesday evening.
In the statement, the electoral body will open the portal for over 2 months period, beginning from Wednesday, 14th September till 30th November when it will be closed.

In the statement, INEC said, “The Commission has approved the re-activation of INECPRES both the Mobile App for Android phones only and the web portal (laptops only).
“To this end, the portal will be open to eligible applicants for registration of all categories of ad-hoc staff (SPO/PO/APO/RATECHS/RAC Managers) except the Collation officers.
“The portal opens on Wednesday the 14th of September and ends on the 30th November, 2022,” the statement partly read.
COMMENTARY
Recall that preparations for the 2023 General elections is already on and the electoral umpire has already disclosed dates for most of the relevant event pursuant to the general elections.
INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, had last week said it will publish the final lists of presidential and national assembly candidates on September 20. The electoral body also said campaigns will officially commence on September 28.
This is not the first time INEC will be making use of ad hoc staff for elections. This has been the practice since this 4th republic. In more recent elections, INEC has also incorporated members of the NYSC as Ad hoc staff for elections.
