The Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett has once again raised the alarm over how “dangerously close” the Islamic Republic of Iran is to acquiring a nuclear weapon.
This alarm comes as the US and the world powers are at a cross road on how to revive the Iran nuclear deal.
The Israeli president warned that Iran is close to completing its nuclear weapons program, and will be able to produce an atomic bomb unless the West gets tough on Tehran.
Naftali Bennett told the UK’s Telegraph newspaper that Western allies are “waking up” to the threat of Iran becoming a nuclear power, as Israeli leaders urged Britain and others to keep up the pressure on Tehran.
“Iran is enriching uranium at an unprecedented rate and moving dangerously close to getting their hands on nuclear weapons,” Bennett said.
His comments come as Tehran reportedly reached uranium enrichment of 60 percent, a level that allows for production of a bomb.
“Without pressure from the west, the Islamic regime in Iran could get their hands on a nuclear bomb very soon,” he said. “The world must take a firm stance … Iran’s nuclear program won’t stop until it’s stopped.”
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Tehran is failing to cooperate with investigations into its nuclear program, and had suddenly turned off at least two surveillance cameras that monitor nuclear sites.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known commonly as the Iran nuclear deal or Iran deal, is an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program reached in Vienna on 14th July 2015, between Iran and the P5+1 together with the European Union.
This deal was completely reaped off by President Trump of the United States after promising to do so while on the campaign trail. He made good this promise, but left no alternative in place throughout his four years in office.
There is a consensus in the military circle and prevailing opinion from analysts with relevant information who have mostly determined that Iran had moved closer to developing a nuclear weapon since the American withdrawal.
