The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture in Lagos State, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, has unveiled a series of year-end festivities set to position Lagos as the ultimate December tourist destination.
During a meeting with representatives of the event organizers at the Ministry, Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka expressed her excitement and anticipation for this promising venture, emphasizing that the time is ripe for such an initiative.
The State Government, in collaboration with the Ministry, eagerly anticipates partnering with the organizers to transform this vision into reality.
In Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka’s words,
- “Lagos will be awake 24/7, with the inclusion of performances by big musical acts like Wizkid, Asa, Lagbaja, and more, adding vibrancy and glamour to the event.”
Mr. Israel Jaiye Opayemi, the Managing Director of Chain Reactions Africa and leader of the delegation, disclosed that their team had conducted a productive visit to the Ministry to discuss plans for an unprecedented Shopping Festival in Nigeria, scheduled to unfold from December 8th to 15th in Lagos State.
Lagos, renowned as a hub for both entertainment and commerce, will be abuzz with non-stop business, entertainment, and tourism activities, operating 24/7 throughout the festival. This initiative aims to infuse Lagos City with a fusion of entertainment and commerce, potentially boosting employment opportunities and driving economic growth within the State.
The festival expects to draw over 1,000 merchants, catering to international and local tourists, luxury brands, designer labels, and MSMEs alike. The event will unfold across multiple venues simultaneously, including Eko Atlantic, TBS, Ikeja City Mall, Palms Shopping Mall, and Festival Mall, guaranteeing seven days of continuous excitement.
Lagos will truly come alive round the clock, featuring captivating performances by renowned artists such as Wizkid, Asa, Lagbaja, and others, adding an extra layer of vibrancy and allure to the festivities.
Opayemi also highlighted a plethora of attractions lined up for the week-long program, including musical concerts, parties, fashion shows, spectacular fireworks displays, a diverse food court, and captivating film screenings.
