In a rare relief, the High Commission in London has now commenced delivering of finished international passports to Nigerians within the UK. This was confirmed by a Palydom reporter on Monday at the High Commission.
Palydom can confidently report that applicants for the Nigerian international passport were required to complete a self-addressed prepaid mailing bag for the posting of their passport after processing.
The applicants were at the embassy for capturing of their data having first completed the online passport application form. Payments for the passports are also made online as part of the application process.
The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had assured that Nigerian missions will soon commence delivering passports to its nationals through courier to eliminate the stress Nigerians go through to visit the missions to keep interview appointments.
This we can confirm has already commenced by the Nigerian mission to the United Kingdom.
“We have started with a new innovation and we are trying to keep Nigerians from traveling to missions for passport renewal.
“We are already talking with some courier companies that will pick passports to the applicants’ doorsteps when they have made all the necessary payments and fill the forms online.
“We don’t want them to come to the missions anymore; it will be delivered to them and we have four Consulates to pilot the innovation,’’ said the Permanent Secretary.
