Prince Uche Secondus, the former Chairman of the People`s Democratic Party, PDP is making a comeback to the party after his hand fought removal from office after falling out with his benefactor, Governor, Nyesom Wike, the governor of River State.
Secondus on Thursday waded into the outcome of the choice of a running mate for the PDP presidential flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. He sent his congratulatory message to the duo of Atiku the PDP candidate and his running mate, Governor Okowa, through a statement by his Media Adviser, Ike Abonyi.
Following very intense horse-trading of the party chieftains of PDP over the shortlisted candidates for the position, Governor Wike lost to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State.
This was against the expectation in some quarters even amongst the PDP bigwigs, which were gunning for the governor of River State, Nyesom Wike, who all the while was reported in the media as a clear front runner for Atiku`s running mate.
In Prince Uche Secondus`s first known public comment on the affairs of the PDP in the recent time, since been booted out of the leadership of the party by forces sponsored by Governor Wike, he (Seocndus) appeared to mock his former friend and benefactor.
“Atiku’s choice of Governor Okowa as his running mate says it all about his knack for picking a good head to be around him for the gargantuan task ahead,” adding that with the picking of a running mate, “the candidacy is complete and PDP is now set for the inevitable journey back to Aso Rock come 2023.” Said the former PDP Chairman.
On Thursday, Atiku while announcing Governor Okowa as his choice for a running mate declared:
“The person I have chosen as my running mate personifies not only the seriousness the current moment represents for our country but also the future that our young people yearn for and deserve. He is a serving state governor, who has demonstrated, in his state and through his conduct that governance is about service to the people.
