Former governor Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have rejected the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election, insisting it is the turn of the South to produce the next president of Nigeria.
Also his Twitter handle is laced with photos he took with Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential candidate in the same February 2023 presidential election he is contesting with the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, a move than can be described as open rejection of the PDP.
In two viral tweets on Wednesday, which were posted at 2:55 PM and 3:06 PM respectively from an android phone, Ayo Fayose wrote:
“The PDP Constitution provides for a rotational Presidency. Section 3(c) provides that the Party shall pursue its aims & objectives by “adhering to the policy of the rotation & zoning of Party & Public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness”, wrote Fayose
“The current President of Nigeria is a 2-term Northern Presidency, thus implying that it MUST be a Southern Presidency in 2023 or NOTHING. Awa ‘South’ lo kan’. Nigerians should await details soon”, Fayose added.
Fayose said that “Nigerians should await details soon”, therefore, leaving everyone to remain guessing where he is likely going to throw his support and allegiance in the countdown to 2023 presidential election.
However, signs of Fayose`s possible move can be found on his Twitter handle. The very vociferous former two term governor of Ekiti sate has adorned his Twitter page with several photos of him and the Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi, a man he share same first name with.
Fayose has before the election spoken very glowingly of the qualities of the former Anambra two term governor, urging that he (Peter Obi) is the most qualified of all the candidate vying to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
While Nigerian continue to ponder on his possible move, in no too distant time, everyone will know exactly where Mr Fayose`s allegiance will swing to for the February 2023 presidential election.
