A police spokesperson have confirmed the attack on a police station in Ondo State and the killing of a police officer by gunmen, denies it was not carried out by terrorists, without providing details on who the attackers could be.
The attack happened at Okuta Elerinla police station in Akure, Ondo State, and the police officer who died in the attack have been identified as Temenu Boluwaji.
The police station was attacked in by the gunmen who are yet to be identified as the time of reporting.
However, the office who died was reported to have met his untimely dead when he was hit by a stray bullet from the shootout that ensued between the gunmen and the police officers at the station.

This unfortunate development was confirmed to the public on Monday in a statement by Odunlami Funmilayo, the police spokesperson, where it was noted that the officer who lost his life died on the way to the hospital.
She said, “Policemen who were alert and alive to their duty repelled them accordingly and the miscreants were unable to gain entrance into the station,” Funmilayo said.
