Yet again, the same Gumi while speaking during a Channels TV interview pointedly accused the Nigerian military of colluding with the bandits who have raked havoc all over the country.

The apparently have ruffled feathers in the security circle, leading to the invitation of Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi by the Department of State Services for questioning.

BASIC FACTS

  • Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has been seen entering the den of the bandits and kidnapers to meet and negotiate with them.
  • He apparently knows the hideout of the criminals and have been escorted to meet with them by security agents
  • Gumi have also publicly stated that the federal government knows the hideout the criminals even before his present accusation that led to his invitation by DSS.
  • Gumi`s invitation by DSS followed his outburst that the Nigerian security agents are colluding with the bandits.
  • Gumi`s spoke person, Malam Tukur Mamu while speaking with VOA Hausa denied that his principal ever accused the military during his interview on Channels TV, and now threatens legal action.

WHAT WE ARE WATCHING

We are watching to see the outcome of the invitation of Gumi by the DSS. We are also watching to see if there will be a retraction by either the cleric or by Channels TV.  We are also watching the next step Sheikh Gumi will take considering the threat of legal action by his spokesperson.
