Should former President Goodluck Jonathan eventually admit his rumored presidential ambition, it will only be a surprise to no one in reality except pretenders and detractors of the former president.

Why would anyone be truly surprised of such a development? Could that be on the ground of morality or legality?

For legality, we must leave the courts to sort that out, and sure, they will, when the time comes. For morality, there is hardly any living Nigerian politician with any moral authority to speak on it.

They have all either done worse or has the capacity to do so when faced with the option.

Are they going to accuse Goodluck Jonathan of dumping “his” party or jumping ship? Which party could that be? What is it about political parties in the Nigerian political space by the way?

Political party in Nigeria is simply a vehicle for capturing political power. It is never a vehicle for delivering leadership to the people or developing the country in any meaningful way.

If political party ever delivers anything to anyone, it is only to the members of the party and not to Nigerians.

That alone explains the hullabaloo and cacophony of voices all over the country from those who pretend to be holier than though, or perhaps more catholic than the Pope is.

They are only crying foul because they see the possibility of the former president`s victory even in the very well decaying All Progressive Congress (APC).

They are scared because his chances may still be bright even as the flag bearer of a party as scorned and detested by many Nigerians for the nature of leadership it has given the country under President Muhammadu Buhari.

They lament because he may deny PDP the victory they think they deserve and can achieve. So rather, than address issues they are busy trying to blackmail the former president not to tarnish his image by joining the APC.

After all said and done, the decision will be for the former president to make, and from indications, it seems the decision is already made.

It remains may be some finishing touches before he comes clean with his pretense about how his APC nomination form was purchased. We all know how the game is played.

It is rather clear enough that Goodluck wants a come to Aso Rock to complete his constitutionally permissible second term. There is no better time than now in his political calculation.

One good turn deserves another, and it is time to receive back the baton from Buhari whom he smoothened his path to power in 2015, by not contesting his “victory” at the pools.

May be there is need or even obligation on Goodluck Jonathan and Dame Patience to come clean the mess of Buhari whose eight years in power has being but a total disaster for the nation.

However it goes, it is definitely an interesting time. It will be more interesting to see how a PDP war machine will campaign against a Jonathan flying the APC flag.

The same thing goes for Jonathan – how will he throw banters against the house he built?

We shall see.
