The APC flagbearer and two term governor of Lagos State was at a book lunch on Sunday organized by his political protégée, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, the current Speaker of Nigeria`s House of Representative.

Tinubu who made a speech at the book lunch humorously commended the positive political chemistry between the Speaker and his Deputy, who have both had good working relationship for almost four years of presiding over the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Referring to this “good working relationship”, with humour Bola Tinubu, who is admirably called Jagaban by his admirers said he will consult the duo for advice as “I am still searching for running mate” for the February 2023 presidential election.

The House Speaker and Deputy Speaker in wide laughter during Bola Tinubu`s commendation

In a video clip of Tinubu`s speech aired on Channels Television, which covered the moment Tinubu finished his speech and was climbing down the podium, someone who looked like an aid to the APC candidate was seen assisting Bola Tinubu as he walked down the step of the podium before the camera appeared to blur the vision of the coverage.

In a season like the current time, when the health of the APC candidate has become, or have been made a national issue, a development like this cannot go unnoticed or without mention by the press.

However, the anchor of the Sunday Politics program on Nigeria`s Channels Television, Mr Seun Okinbaloye, who aired the video of the event, did not say a word of what happened, irrespective of the fact that the issue on discussion was about the fitness of the candidate for the purpose of the presidential election.

Clariform reminds our readers that the Hon Femi Gbajabiamila`s book lunch was in commemoration of his 60th birthday celebration.

Nigerians from all walks of life on Saturday congratulated the Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

NOTABLE QUOTES

In statement on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari by his Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, in facilitating with the Speaker said:

“I have observed the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila for a long time, in the sense that when I was watching debates in the House of Representatives he used to be on his feet most of the time, passionately defending the party and issues he believed in.

“He impressed me very early as a committed member of the House of Representatives and I congratulate his constituency for keeping him there. I was very pleased that he eventually became the leader of the House.

“I am so impressed and pleased with the performance of the Speaker and the Senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan. At a certain stage, I called them and told them that I did not speak to them about what was happening in the National Assembly because I have so much confidence in them.

“Our party, APC, has majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. I know both of them and endorse their leadership so I should leave them alone to do their job.

“I wish Femi Gbajabiamila the best of luck and hope his constituency will maintain the confidence in him because he is a patriotic and honest person. I have a lot of respect for him.’’
