On Friday, a Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos discharged and acquitted Jonah Jang a former Governor of the state over a N6.3 billion corruption charges filled against him by the EFCC.
Justice Christy Dabup who made the judgement also discharged and acquitted a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the Plateau state government, Yusuf Pam, who was accused alongside the former governor.
However, in a swift reaction, the EFCC has said it will appeal the Friday judgement.
According to a statement by the commission after the judgement, EFCC via a tweet from their verified twitter handle which was signed by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, Friday afternoon that it will appeal the judgement.
According to the statement titled, ‘Alleged N6.3b Fraud: EFCC to Appeal Jonah Jang, Pam’s Acquittal’ the anti-graft agency stated that it had initiated processes for an appeal “immediately.”
