The collapse of an uncompleted building along Beirut Road in Kano was reported on Tuesday, and there were fears that some people were trapped beneath the unfinished building’s debris.
Clariform correspondent observed rescue efforts and the presence of many people at the scene trying to help rescue those still trapped in the building. There were also the presence of emergency responders at the scene of the collapsed building.
According to the information we obtained, some people—up to six people—have been saved while others were still trapped.
However, according to the Kano State branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, one persons died at the hospital among the nine victims rescued so far after an uncompleted three-story building collapsed at Beirut GSM Market on Tuesday evening.
Mr. Musa Abdulla, the secretary of the branch who confirmed this said that a staff of Kano Electricity Distribution Company had also lost his life in the disaster.

Also the National Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that one person died out of the additional eight rescued victims that were rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
According to a statement issued by Head, NEMA Press Unit Abuja, Manzo Ezekiel, as of 9:10pm on Tuesday night, eight persons have been rescued and taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.
“Sadly, one of them was confirmed dead by doctors at the hospital, six with minor injuries were treated and discharged.”
According to Mr. Manzo, NEMA Search and Rescue team from the Agency’s Kano Territorial Office was immediately deployed to the scene of the incident to coordinate the rescue operation.
Also in another statement by the Kano Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, the agency made it known that eight victims had been successfully rescued.
