The suspects claimed that they killed the retired police officer because he had made their lives difficult and miserable by constantly trailing them.

They also claimed that they killed a deceased lawmaker and abducted his wives and children because they had repeatedly asked him for financial assistance and he refused.

The IRT operatives arrested the kidnappers after intelligence reports on the kidnappings, armed robberies, and criminal conspiracy were filed against them by the natives of Dass LGA in Bauchi State.

Hamishu Galadima 48 alias Kan Wuka, Abdulwahab Alhassan alias Emeka, Abdulwahab Ahmed alias Dan mama, and Hamidu Saleh are the syndicate’s top suspects.

The suspects were captured after a well-planned operation by the DCP Tunji Disu-led intelligence police squad, and they admitted to their roles in all of the kidnappings and armed robberies that took place in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna villages and market roads on Mondays.

Additionally, they admitted to breaking into the home of Suleiman Shuaibu, alias Shayi, a resident of Dass Local Council in Bauchi State, at around 01.15 in the morning, and kidnapping six members of the man’s family.

The prime accused Hamishu claimed that his group killed the divisional policeman because the officer tended to look for them whenever a crime was reported.

Regarding the murder of the lawmaker, he claimed that the criminal gang killed the man because he refused to provide them with money despite numerous pleas from his gang members, even though he always helped others.

Notable Quotes

In his confessions, Hamishu said, “We entered the house of the honorable member House of Assembly Hon. Musa Mante killed him inside his room and took physical cash of two million naira (N2,000,000).”

“And we kidnapped his two wives and took them to Dutsin Miagoshi Igala and the victims spent almost four days in captivity and we demanded a ransom of Thirty-Five Million Naira (N35,000,000.00)”.

He said that he was the one protecting the deceased man’s gate when other gang members broke into the house through the roof and stole his money before killing the congressman.

The second suspect, Abdulwahab alias Emeka, also admitted to cooperating with the gang leader in the different kidnapping instances and mentioned that he had previously dealt in heavy drugs and interacted with and knew all of the criminals ravaging the communities in Bauchi.

However, he claimed that he simply gave them the information required for the lawmaker’s detention and did not follow the crime suspects to their residence.

He stated that he was an ex-convict who had been detained twice for two years each time for drug offenses by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) before serving his sentences and being freed.

All of the suspects admitted, after additional questioning by the IRT media team, that they had argued with the deceased MP over projects in his constituency that were allegedly imbalanced, and when he was unable to give them a suitable response, they shot him.

They added that they banded together against the retired policeman because he promised to keep going after and dealing with local criminals for the protection and security of the residents.

They admitted using one AK-47 assault rifle and a variety of ammunition, according to the evidence found by the police squad.

To ensure the safety of country residents, Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba has ordered that any firearms, arms, and ammunition in the possession of criminal elements like kidnappers and bandits be removed right away.

The Force Spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, have assured that all the suspects will be prosecuted following in accordance to the country’s laws.
